New Kiln Arrives

BEFORE (Above):
The old 27-year-old kiln, being a fire hazard, needed to be replaced. The Building Goodness Foundation installed the proper wiring and venting for the new kiln.
AFTER (Right): The new kiln was purchased at a discounted price with private donations and grant money provided by the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Right to left: Christine “Rippling Water” Custalow, Barbara Reeley, Dennis Smith, and Pastor Karen Sandoval, chairwoman for Native American Ministries for the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church, Dennis, president of Northeast Ceramic Supply Inc. in Troy, New York, and Barbara, potter from Wynantskill, New York, delivered the kiln.
Native youth, as well as reservation residents and neighboring Pamunkey tribal members joined in the celebration. Handmade pottery was gifted to Dennis and Barbara in gratitude of their generous support.
